Apple-owned Beats makes several different types of headphones, from small in-ear types that plug into an audio jack to over-the-head wireless cans that connect using Bluetooth. Connecting wired headphones is just a matter of plugging them into the audio jack on your Mac. But with wireless ones, it may seem not that straightforward. So in this article, we’ll show you how to connect Beats to your Mac. If you want to know how to connect Beats Solo 3 or Beats X to your Mac, read on.

How to connect wireless Beats headphones to your Mac

The first thing you’ll need to do is locate the power button on your Beats headphones. This varies depending on which model of headphones you have. So if you’re not sure, check the manual or quick start guide that came with them.

You should also make sure your headphones are charged before you try to pair them with your Mac. It’s worth plugging them into a USB charger for five minutes before you start, to make sure they have enough power.

  1. Press and hold on the power button until the LED starts flashing.
  2. On your Mac, click on the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.
  3. Select Bluetooth.
  4. Choose your Beats headphones from the list of devices.
  5. Click Pair.

Stealth Beat Mac Os 11

Your Beats are now paired with your Mac and connected to it. Beats headphones remember which device they were last connected to and automatically reconnect when they are within range.

However, if you use them with another device, like an iPhone or iPad, you will need to reconnect them with your Mac manually. To do that, turn your Beats on, click on the Bluetooth menu in the menu bar, mouse over the headphones, and choose Connect. Alternatively, you can go to Bluetooth in System Preferences, choose them in the list and press Connect.

Bluetooth wireless connections use a Bluetooth chip in your Mac to connect to the Bluetooth chip in your headphones. Although it doesn’t use much in the way of resources on your Mac, you might find that you occasionally run into connection issues.

When that happens, I find it useful to run maintenance scripts in CleanMyMac X’s Maintenance module. It can identify and report any problems and allow you to fix them at the press of a button. It will also free up RAM, meaning you’re less likely to run into problems. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Grab yourself a copy of CleanMyMac X. Free trial is available, so you can test the software before purchasing.
  2. Install and launch the app.
  3. Choose Maintenance from the list of modules on the left.
  4. In the middle window, check the box next to Run Maintenance Scripts.
  5. Press Run.

Troubleshooting Bluetooth connection between your Beats and Mac

If you have problems with reconnecting your Beats, here’s how you can troubleshoot Bluetooth connection:

  1. Go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
  2. Click Bluetooth.
  3. In the list of devices, select your Beats.
  4. Click “X” and choose Forget Device.

Then pair your Beats with your MacBook following the instructions above.

If you find that the Bluetooth connection between your headphones and your Mac keeps dropping out, try running CleanMyMac X, as we explained above. You can also try restarting your Mac, making sure macOS is up to date and switching your earphones off then on again.

Beats wireless headphones are a great way to listen to music or podcasts on your Mac, whether you’re at home, in a coffee shop, or an airplane. Connecting them to your Mac is straightforward, using the steps above. And CleanMyMac X can help resolve problems. Happy Listening!
